Electrolysis Treatment:
Preparation & Aftercare
Please follow all of the recommendations listed here to ensure the best results!
Preparation for Electrolysis Treatment
Let the hair grow!
If I cannot see the hair, I cannot treat the hair. It’s best to stop shaving for at least 2 days before your appointment. And for other methods like waxing, tweezing, and etc., these should be stopped 2-3 weeks prior to your first treatment and they must be discontinued once your series of electrolysis appointments begin.
Hydrate
Drink plenty of water at least 48 hours before your appointment because well hydrated skin can make your electrolysis treatments more effective.
Clean Skin
Make sure that you remove makeup, deodorant, creams, or lotions before your appointment.
Numb the Area
Apply topical numbing agent, like Numb Master, to the area before treatment. Follow the instructions on the label.
Avoid Caffeine
Avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment as it may increase pain sensitivity.
Avoid Sun Exposure
Do not sunbathe or use tanning beds for at least 2 days prior to your appointments because it will increase the sensitivity of your skin.
Electrolysis Aftercare Treatment
Hair Removal Methods
You can cut or shave (body or facial hair) between treatments, however, be sure to grow it out so enough is showing on the day of your appointment.
Don't Exercise
I recommend that exercise be suspended for 1-2 days after treatment. However, if you must then I recommend keeping your face clean with witch hazel.
Be Consistent
To achieve optimal results from electrolysis it is very important to keep up with your appointments.
Avoid Sun Exposure
Do not sunbathe or use tanning beds for at least 2 days after your treatment as it will increase skin sensitivity.
Application of Products
I recommend not using any creams, lotions, makeup, powders, sprays, and etc. for 24 hours following your treatment because it may cause irritation.
Keep Skin Clean
Keep the treated area as clean as possible for 24 hours after your appointment. Do not wear makeup or pick off scabs/whiteheads that may appear (doing so may leave a scar).
Minimize Heat & Friction
For 1-2 days, don’t touch your face, use public pools or saunas, and don’t take hot showers or spas.
Apply Ice Pack
To soothe and reduce swelling I will give you an ice pack to apply to the area immediately after treatment.
